FairPrice Group to Lower and Hold Prices of Popular Protein Staples, Chicken and Eggs, Until 31 December 2026

Extra $2.5m in savings to be returned to customers from now till December 2026

SINGAPORE, 1 October 2026 — FairPrice Group will commit to lower and hold prices on selected chicken and egg products across more than 100 FairPrice Supermarkets from now till 31 December 2026. This reinforces its longstanding commitment to keep daily essentials within reach and return value to customers. FPG will also extend discounts on selected fruits and vegetables till the end of 2026, giving customers more savings across their grocery basket.

From now till 31 December, shoppers will be able to purchase a tray of 30 eggs1 for $4.95 and a 1kg frozen chicken for $2.502 at more than 100 FairPrice supermarkets3, lowering prices on Singapore’s two most consumed sources of protein and keeping everyday nutrition within reach for all Singapore households. Both will be offered at their lowest prices since 2021, as part of a year-end initiative to deliver over $2.5 million in savings directly to customers while keeping everyday sources of protein affordable.

“Chicken and eggs are daily staples for most Singapore households, and we want to give customers greater certainty that these essentials will remain within reach. This is our purpose in action: making every day a little better by delivering quality essentials at good value for all in Singapore. For us, delivering value means using our scale and working closely with our suppliers to make a meaningful difference to what customers pay for the things they need every day,” said Vipul Chawla, Group CEO, FairPrice Group. “We have partnered with our suppliers to increase the supply of chicken and eggs, allowing us to lower prices and commit to holding them through the end of the year. At these prices, both eggs and frozen chicken will be at their lowest prices since 2021, giving our customers even greater value.”

FairPrice’s latest initiative comes as households continue to navigate higher prices across retail, food and transport. Singapore’s MAS Core Inflation rose to 2.2% year-on-year in August, from 2.0% in July, with higher food inflation among the contributors to the increase.4 Against this backdrop, FPG continues to find meaningful ways to deliver consistent value and help customers keep daily essentials within reach throughout the year.

Consistently managing prices and returning value to customers

Vipul added, “FPG takes a sustained approach to value, using a combination of price management, broad-based savings and targeted discounts to support customers across different needs and moments.”

In 2026, this included freezing prices on all chilled pork and selected seafood and vegetables over the Chinese New Year period. From April to August, amid heightened global uncertainty arising from the conflict in the Middle East and concerns over potential pressure on food and commodity prices, FPG also froze prices on more than 500 essentials, giving customers greater price certainty across a broad range of daily essentials.

In May, FPG provided $5 million worth of savings on popular essentials for NTUC and Link members. Together with this latest value initiative, FPG has committed more than $7.5 million in 2026 to help customers save on daily essentials.

Separately, FPG most recently doubled its weekly discounts for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders to 6% through the end of the year, building on more than $10 million in CHAS savings provided in 2026.

Together with FPG’s ongoing weekly discount programmes5 for the vulnerable, seniors and NTUC members, these initiatives reflect FPG’s continued commitment to delivering meaningful and consistent value, while keeping daily essentials within reach for customers throughout the year.

NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said, “Workers and their families continue to feel the pressures of rising costs, and what matters is practical support that makes a difference to their daily lives. FairPrice Group’s commitment to lower and hold prices on everyday staples such as chicken and eggs will help ease the load at the dinner table. Caring for workers and their families is at the heart of our social mission, and the Labour Movement will continue to do all it can to help them manage their everyday needs.”

Supporting better nutrition in the community

Beyond its stores, FPG and its philanthropic arm, FairPrice Foundation (FPF), have also been working to improve access to protein and better nutrition in the community. Through FPF’s Protein Pledge, the Foundation has committed to provide $1 million worth of fresh protein to vulnerable communities by 2030, with fresh eggs forming a core part of its distributions.

More recently, FPF piloted its Stay Strong programme for seniors, developed in partnership with Tan Tock Seng Hospital to strengthen seniors’ nutrition knowledge and access to nutritious essentials. FPF’s research found that while 67% of seniors recognise they need more protein as they age, only 69% of those who recognise this need say they have increased their protein intake compared to when they were younger. Half of Singapore’s seniors are also not meeting their recommended protein intake.6

FPG’s efforts to keep everyday protein staples affordable, improve access to protein in the community, and strengthen nutrition among seniors reflect a broader focus on making good nutrition more accessible to Singaporeans, particularly those who may need greater support. ]
