FAQs
Start Strong, Stay Strong is championed by FairPrice Foundation, developed in partnership with Terra SG and My First Skool by NTUC First Campus, and supported by nutrition knowledge partner, KK Women's and Children's Hospital.
This programme is specifically tailored for preschool children, between 4 to 6 years old. It aims to engage young learners in a fun and educational way, laying the foundations for them to develop and sustain healthy eating habits throughout their lives.
For children above 6 years old, join the learning with our Start Strong Explorer's Quest at FairPrice City Square Mall instead!
The programme features interactive games, storytelling, role-playing, and experiential learning through in-class and real-world scenarios to teach children about nutrition.
Children will develop a strong, foundational understanding of food and nutrition, learn to make healthier food choices, and understand the impact of their actions on their households and the environment. These lessons help them develop healthier habits that can lead to lifelong well-being.
The programme consists of two facilitated games: Healthy Plate Heroes and Food Finder Adventure, each lasting 1 hour 30 minutes. These two components are scheduled at least a week apart, with the Take-Home Mission completed in between. The format combines interactive games, group activities, experiential trails and opportunities for children to apply and connect what they learn in school with real-world experiences beyond the classroom.
While the programme is designed for preschoolers, we strongly encourage parents to be involved in the different stages of their child's learning. Parents will be provided a leaflet in the Take-Home Mission, with suggestions on how they can support and sustain their child's learning at home. For example, the Take-Home Mission comprises activities for both parent and child to work on together, to discover the different food habits and dietary needs within the household. The material is designed to be simple and engaging, allowing families to explore the topic of food and nutrition together.
Upon completion of the Supermarket Spree, children will also be given a nutri-bundle, containing fresh fruits and healthy breakfast essentials. The bundle also contains a Stay Strong Recipe Pack filled with easy, affordable, delicious and nutritious recipes that families can plan and prepare together. This encourages families to explore fresh food experiences together, and nurture healthy food habits within the household.
The programme curriculum includes exposure to various dietary needs and requirements, to help children understand the importance of accommodating different food needs and ensure that all children can participate.
Schools can register for the programme here. Parents interested in enrolling their children in the programme should contact their child's preschool to inquire about participation.
