  • Expansion to reach supermarkets across the island; follows the launch of FPG’s Store of Tomorrow programme and first gen-AI-powered supermarket at Punggol Digital District in Q3 2025 in collaboration with Google Cloud

SINGAPORE, 8 April 2026 – FairPrice Group (FPG) announced today that it will roll out digital innovation built with Google Cloud AI for both customers and staff to supermarkets across its network by end-2026. These innovations include smart shopping carts, digital price cards, the hybrid physical-digital ShopBeyond retail format, and Grocer Genie, an AI-powered staff app to help staff better manage store operations.

This expansion follows FPG’s launch of its Store of Tomorrow (SOT) programme in partnership with Google Cloud in June 2025. The SOT programme is a commitment to pilot 20 digital solutions a year aimed at reinventing retail experiences for customers and staff. In August 2025, FPG also opened its first physical Store of Tomorrow at Punggol Digital District.

Vipul Chawla, Group CEO, FairPrice Group said that technology is most powerful when it makes peoples’ lives easier, and the SOT programme is all about using digital innovation to do just that for FPG’s customers and staff.

“By bringing proven AI solutions from our Store of Tomorrow programme to more supermarkets across the island, we want to reimagine the shopping experience for our customers and remove the friction from their weekly grocery runs. Whether it’s with smart carts that provide personalised offers and in-store navigation, or hybrid retail formats that bring together the best of physical and online shopping, our aim with the programme is to make every day a little better for all in Singapore.”

Mark Micallef, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Google Cloud, said: “FairPrice Group’s Store of Tomorrow programme is a masterclass in how retailers can thoughtfully and strategically transcend enterprise AI pilots to achieve tangible value at scale. By deploying tried-and-tested innovations in its supermarkets island-wide, FairPrice Group is realising significant operational ROI—from measurable productivity gains to a clear reduction in checkout friction.

“This week at Google Cloud Next ‘26, FairPrice Group is showcasing their success on a global stage. We’re now deepening our collaboration, enabling FairPrice Group to harness Google Cloud’s Agentic Data Cloud and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to design even more solutions that deliver real-world benefits. By moving beyond simple chatbot assistance to an interoperable ecosystem of AI agents that reason and act across a complex grocery value chain, we’re helping FairPrice Group create elevated shopping experiences for customers, smarter tools for frontline workers, and a more efficient retail ecosystem for all of Singapore.”

FPG was one of only three companies globally invited by Google Cloud to have a showcase – featuring its SOT retail innovations – at Google Cloud Next ‘26.

FPG’s supermarket at Punggol Digital District serves as the testbed for retail technology pilots run through the SOT programme. Sarah Jane Vasquez, Branch Manager at Punggol Digital District said that her role has evolved a lot since the introduction of the SOT programme.

“New digital tools like Grocer Genie help me automate manual work like eyeballing when shelves need to be restocked and even staff rosterting. This frees up time for me to lead and coach my team. Ultimately, this initiative has empowered us to serve our customers faster, smarter, and better.”

Solutions including smart carts, digital price cards, ShopBeyond, and the Grocer Genie staff app were first piloted in the store in August 2025. Following a rigorous evaluation of how much they improve customer value and operational efficiency, a curated mix of these solutions will be deployed across FairPrice outlets by end-2026, tailored to the specific needs of each store.

As part of this strategy, FPG also integrated MyInfo into the FPG App in May 2025 to make the application of its daily discount schemes even easier for eligible shoppers. By verifying their information on the FPG app once with MyInfo, eligible customers need only check out with the FPG App to have relevant discounts applied automatically to their purchases. Since this implementation, close to 900,000 Link members have updated their FPG app profiles via MyInfo, and now enjoy the seamless application of discounts when making payment.
