Day of Service is our employee volunteering initiative that empowers our people to uplift lives and strengthen communities.

Rooted in FairPrice Foundation’s three strategic pillars—uplifting communities through nutrition and access to daily essentials, strengthening community welfare and engagement, and supporting workers’ welfare—our volunteers take meaningful action where it matters most.

These Day of Service initiatives include:

Distributing hot meals and fresh produce through initiatives like the Neighbourhood Food Share and A Full Plate donation drive
Engaging communities in meaningful conversations and activities to boost nutrition knowledge and distributing high-protein essentials like eggs through the Protein Pledge
Befriending seniors and children through festive outreach and community bonding activities that foster care, connection, and joy

By opening up about my path to leading a team of 45, I hoped to break down any stigmas and help the students see their own potential. “Childhood is such a precious time, but not every child can enjoy that as they may have to worry about their basic needs. I love interacting with the elderly, as they remind me of my own parents. One of the elderly uncles was initially reluctant to join us due to mobility issues. As we toured the garden and crafted terrariums, he began to open up and eventually shared that he was very glad he came. It was so fulfilling to see the smile on his face — what was just a few hours of our time can be so precious for someone else. I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a difference, however small, in their lives.
