- FPG to freeze prices of 100 daily essentials; these include fresh and frozen chicken, eggs, rice, oil, milk, detergent, and more
- CHAS discounts to double from 3 to 6 per cent; more than nine in 10 CHAS Blue and Orange customers purchase products from list of 100 daily essentials
SINGAPORE, 8 April 2026 – Amidst unprecedented disruptions to global energy networks and supply chain infractions, FairPrice Group (FPG) announced today that it would take measures to protect Singaporeans’ way of life. FPG will freeze prices on 100 of its most popular daily essentials from 9 April to 31 May 2026.
These include pantry staples such as FairPrice housebrand rice, oil, eggs, fresh and frozen pork and chicken, Milo, milk and detergent. FPG data shows that more than nine in 10 Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Blue and Orange customers purchase products from this basket of 100 essentials.
This price freeze is part of FPG’s wider commitment to keep daily essentials within reach for all, amidst the growing impact of economic and geopolitical volatility on Singaporeans’ daily lives. In an effort to further support vulnerable communities during this period, FPG announced that it will double discounts for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders from three to six per cent from 9 April till 31 May 2026. This deeper support will be supported by FPG’s philanthropic arm FairPrice Foundation (FPF).
Vipul Chawla, Group CEO, FairPrice Group said these initiatives are rooted in FPG’s core purpose, from when it was first established as a single co-operative supermarket to keep staples affordable amid the 1970s oil crisis.
“Food and groceries make up over 20 per cent of the average household budget; and even more for lower-income families. Through our price freeze and doubled weekly CHAS discounts, we are stepping up to help Singaporean households navigate these uncertain times. Our mission is to keep meals nutritious and healthy, regardless of market volatility. We made a promise 50 years ago to stand by Singaporeans in times of need, and we’re keeping that promise today by doing everything we can to keep essentials within reach.”
Ng Chee Meng, Secretary-General, NTUC said, “At NTUC and FairPrice Group, our social mission is clear. No worker or family should face rising cost pressures alone. The doubling of discounts for CHAS Blue and Orange card holders means real savings for those who need it most. The price freeze on 100 daily essentials is our way of saying — we hear you, and we’re doing our part to keep essentials within reach.”
In December 2025, FPG extended its daily discount schemes1 for seniors, Pioneer and Merdeka Generation, and CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders for another year, till end-2026. To make the application of these discounts even easier for shoppers, the Group integrated MyInfo into the FPG App in May 2025. By verifying their information on the FPG app once with MyInfo, eligible customers need only check out with the FPG App to have relevant discounts applied automatically to their purchases.
Since this implementation, close to 900,000 Link members have updated their FPG app profiles via MyInfo, and now enjoy the seamless application of discounts when making payment.
Throughout 2025, FPG returned more than $25 million to customers and members through Linkpoints redemption and its Senior, PG, MG, CHAS Blue and Orange discount schemes. Since the start of 2026, FPG has rolled out a series of initiatives to help Singaporeans stretch their dollar amid inflation risk. These include:
