NTUC FairPrice holds Vietnam Fair in celebration of 45 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Vietnam

Shoppers will enjoy up to 45% discounts on over 40 popular Vietnamese products over its duration

SINGAPORE, 13 November 2018 – NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) today launched a special two-week-long Vietnam Fair, in celebration of 45 years of diplomatic relations and the fifth anniversary of strategic partnership between Singapore and Vietnam. Supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam in coordination with Embassy of the S.R. of Vietnam in Singapore, the Vietnam Fair will feature new products such as organic seafood and milk, along with favourites like Vietnamese coffee and fish sauce offered at discounts of up to 45% off.

The launch event at FairPrice Xtra at Singapore Sports Hub was graced by His Excellency, Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Mr Goh Chok Tong, Emeritus Senior Minister of the Republic of Singapore, along with Mr Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Vietnam; Mr Mai Tien Dung, Minister, Chairman of the Office of the Government; Mr Tran Tuan Anh, Minister for Industry & Trade of Vietnam; Mrs Tao Thi Thanh Huong, Ambassador of Vietnam to Singapore and Mr Tran Duc Binh, Ambassador of Vietnam to ASEAN.

This partnership has enabled FairPrice to widen our sources of supply and benefits consumers in Singapore with a wider range of Vietnamese products at lower prices due to economies of scale. Similarly, consumers in Vietnam also have access to more varieties of products at affordable prices.”

In-demand Vietnamese Products in Singapore

Products from Vietnam enjoy growing popularity in Singapore, where demand has increased 76% between 2010 and 2017.

These include rice from Vietnam, which now makes up 23% of all rice sold at FairPrice. In addition, about 11% of the laundry detergents and 11% of the frozen seafood sold at FairPrice come from Vietnam. Other popular categories of products from Vietnam include vegetables, coffee, beer and household products. 

FairPrice now offers about 650 products from across over 40 product categories, a 17% increase from 2015.

FairPrice’s Vietnam Fair will be held at all FairPrice stores island-wide (including FairPrice Finest and FairPrice Xtra hypermarkets), as well as online platform FairPrice On, from 13 to 26 November 2018. Availability of products may vary from store to store.
