FairPrice Group donates S$280,000 to Community Chest in support of social service agencies and their programmes

SINGAPORE, 17 March 2022 – FairPrice Group announced today, in collaboration with its strategic partners, a donation of S$280,000 from FairPrice Foundation to Community Chest (ComChest) via the Heartstrings Buy initiative. FairPrice Group has also extended its partnership with ComChest for the Heartstrings Buy initiative for another three years, till 2024. 

Mr Seah Kian Peng, Group Chief Executive Officer of FairPrice Group, said, “Through this initiative, FairPrice Group, together with our business partners and the community are able to collectively reach out to those in need, especially families most affected by the pandemic and the pressures of the rising cost of living. We are encouraged by the overwhelming support received for the Heartstrings Buy initiative and we are pleased to pledge our commitment to continue with the partnership.”

The Heartstrings Buy initiative, which ran from 3 to 16 March 2022, concluded with a dollar-for-dollar matching donation of $280,000 from FairPrice Group and its business partners for the sales of over 40 selected items purchased at all FairPrice outlets including FairPrice supermarkets, FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra and Cheers convenience stores during the campaign period.

Mr Phillip Tan, Chairman of Community Chest, said, “FairPrice Group has been a long-time partner of Community Chest and we are appreciative of their continued support towards our causes. Many individuals and families face additional challenges as the impact of COVID-19 remain protracted. Heartstrings Buy is a great initiative to engage and influence the community to give back and help those in need build greater resilience. The proceeds from this initiative will go towards meeting underserved and critical social needs.”

The donation will support more than 200 social service programmes funded by ComChest that empower adults with disabilities, children with special needs and youth-at-risk, persons with mental health conditions, and seniors and families in need of assistance.
