Singapore, 4 February 2015 – Nestlé Singapore, together with NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) and The Food Bank Singapore today announced a charity partnership to distribute over 180,000 servings of Nestlé Breakfast Cereal to needy children from various organisations islandwide. The initiative was launched today with 100 children at Daybreak Student Care Centre one of the beneficiaries, enjoying a nutritious bowl of cereal with top corporate leaders. As part of the launch of this project, Guest-of-Honour Mr Seah Kian Peng, CEO of NTUC FairPrice personally presented bags of breakfast cereals to the children at the centre. The children also had the opportunity to interact with Mr Seah over a bowl of cereal.

The partnership will seek to provide children in need with nutritious Nestle Breakfast Cereal to kick-start their day in the new year. The 180,000 servings of Nestlé Breakfast Cereal and 6,000 packets of FairPrice Full Cream Milk will provide 1,000 needy children with a nutritious whole grain breakfast for six months.

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet this simple meal may be seen as a luxury for needy families. Through this initiative, Nestle Breakfast Cereal aims to provide whole grain nutrition and essential vitamins and minerals for the children’s growing needs.” said Mr Teo Heng Keat, Director of Retail Sales of Nestlé Singapore.

Commenting on the importance of doing good for the community, Mr Seah Kian Peng, CEO (Singapore) of NTUC FairPrice said, “FairPrice continues to work with like-minded organisations to support our community. We are honoured to partner Nestlé in this initiative to ensure children and families in need supported by The Food Bank Singapore start their day right with a nutritious breakfast. We hope to be an example so that more organisations will step forward and make a difference in our community.”

As part of its staff volunteer programme, FairPrice staff will be participating in this initiative by volunteering to help pack the Nestlé Breakfast Cereals for various groups of beneficiaries supported by The Food Bank Singapore. This is the second year that FairPrice has supported Nestlé in this initiative to distribute food to the needy through volunteerism. Last year, the FairPrice Volunteer Programme participated in close to 80 charitable activities, clocking over 2,260 volunteer hours.
