SINGAPORE, 2 May 2014 – NTUC FairPrice Foundation today announced an inaugural donation of S$1 million to beneficiaries of the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s (MSF) ComCare Long Term Assistance (previously known as Public Assistance Scheme). At the opening of MSF’s Bukit Merah Social Service Office, Mr Ng Ser Miang, Chairman of NTUC FairPrice Foundation presented the cheque of S$1 million to Minister Chan Chun Sing.

Mr Ng said, “FairPrice Foundation is happy to play a part in supporting the beneficiaries under the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s ComCare Long Term Assistance. This is part of the government’s social safety net for the most vulnerable members of our society. ComCare’s aims are aligned to Foundation’s objectives in providing a better life for the community by offering long-term holistic support to beneficiaries who are permanently unable to provide for themselves.”

The $1 million donation to MSF’s ComCare Long Term Assistance will go towards helping beneficiaries of ComCare who are permanently unable to work because of old age, illness or disability, and have little or no income and family support.

FairPrice Foundation is committed to doing good for the community and has to date donated over $50 million to the various causes and charitable organisations including NTUC U Care Fund, RenCi Hospital, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, and Society for the Physically Disabled.
