SINGAPORE, 14 June 2018 – NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) today announced its official sponsorship of Muhamad Ridhwan, Singapore’s first international professional boxer, who is en route to claiming the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Super Bantamweight World Title. Should he emerge victorious, it will be the first time a Singaporean clinches a world championship under the renowned IBO sanction body.
Remarking on the sponsorship, Muhamad Ridhwan said, “I am deeply honoured to represent Singapore in this upcoming world title fight and grateful to have earned the sponsorship from FairPrice, an organisation that I can identify with, like most Singaporeans. I want to thank FairPrice for their steadfast belief in local sportsmen and my quest to be Singapore’s first boxing world champion. I will persevere relentlessly in training so I can make Singapore proud.”
As Ridhwan prepares to undergo an intense regimen from now till September, the sponsorship will see Ridhwan’s training leading up to the world title well taken care of, as it includes training support with Singapore as his base, regional sparring partners that will provide preparation needed for the fight, including local and regional training camps.
In addition, FairPrice will also be the official sponsor of the IBO international championships, Roar of Singapore V, which will be hosting the fight. It is organised by Singapore-based organisation Ringstar, Asia’s fastest growing Sports Media Property focused on a boxing ecosystem.
