All FairPrice stores to extend operating hours from 8 February with some opening till midnight

Singapore, 5 February 2018 – NTUC FairPrice today announced that it will keep 138 stores open over the Lunar New Year (LNY) holiday – accounting for over 90 percent of all its supermarkets and hypermarkets island-wide – to provide greater convenience and accessibility for customers over the festive period. This is the highest number of stores FairPrice is keeping open throughout the LNY public holiday.

Mr Seah Kian Peng, CEO of NTUC FairPrice, said, “The Lunar New Year season is a time for celebration and reunion with family and friends and we want to ensure our customers have convenient access to groceries and festive goodies during this festive period. Extending our operating hours will help to alleviate the expected high customer traffic within the stores while also catering to last minute shopping. Beyond this, we serve the different ethnicities of residents, including people who do not celebrate LNY, by keeping the bulk of our stores open over the public holiday.”

Mr Seah also acknowledged FairPrice staff and their family members for their support. He said, “We thank our staff for their hard work and dedication in serving the community throughout this festive period; we are grateful also to the families of all our employees for their unwavering support and understanding during this busy period. We take this opportunity to wish our staff, customers and strategic partners a happy and prosperous New Year.”

Extended operating hours in the lead up to Lunar New Year will commence from 8 February 2018, with more than half of FairPrice’s stores opening for an additional hour. The 61 24-hour stores will continue their usual operating hours.

On the eve of Lunar New Year’s Eve (14 February), on top of 61 existing 24-hour stores, 20 additional stores will open for 24 hours, catering to families preparing for their annual reunion dinner. Lunar New Year’s Eve will also see all 147 FairPrice stores open till at least 5pm.

Regular operating hours will resume on the third day of Lunar New Year (18 February).

FairPrice Online will continue deliveries between 10am-6pm over the Lunar New Year period between 15 to 18 February, subject to stipulated order cut-off timings. Regular delivery timings will resume on 19 February.
